After eight years of dominating the cracking scene, the renowned group CODEX is bidding farewell. Their iconic tag has left an indelible mark on the cracking world, instilling both fear in game publishers and earning respect from fellow crackers.

CODEX’s reputation precedes them. With unparalleled skill, they tackled the toughest copy protections, cracking through defenses that seemed impenetrable. Their prowess was unmatched, making them a force to be reckoned with in the gaming industry.

Over the years, CODEX’s achievements have been nothing short of legendary. Their ability to break through the most advanced security measures set a new standard in game cracking, leaving publishers scrambling to protect their titles.

But now, after nearly a decade of unparalleled success, CODEX is officially closing its doors. While their departure leaves a void in the cracking community, their legacy will continue to inspire awe and admiration among their peers.

Since the dawn of computer and video games, piracy has been a persistent issue, evolving from cassette and floppy disk copying in the early days to today’s digital piracy over the Internet.

Over the decades, a subset of gaming enthusiasts has coalesced into Scene groups, dedicated to cracking games and removing their protections. While many of these groups have risen and fallen, few have left as profound a mark as CODEX.

CODEX emerged onto the Scene in 2014, quickly asserting its dominance. Renowned for its ability to crack even the toughest protections, including Denuvo, CODEX became a feared entity among game publishers. Yet, its exploits were also seen as a badge of honor by some smaller developers, who framed replicas of CODEX NFOs in their offices.

Over its tenure, CODEX released more than 7,000 titles, serving millions of game pirates. However, this prolific run came to an end with the recent release of “The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories,” as CODEX announced its retirement.

Contrary to expectations of arrests or internal strife, CODEX’s retirement was a deliberate decision, with the group declaring its mission accomplished. However, it also expressed criticism of the current state of the cracking scene, signaling a departure from an era defined by CODEX’s unparalleled exploits.

CODEX reminisces about its origins, recalling its early rivalry with RELOADED, the prevailing PC games cracking group at the time. However, this rivalry proved short-lived, with RELOADED’s decline contributing to a less compelling scene, according to CODEX.

The group also laments the rise of “copycats,” unauthorized entities that appropriated the RELOADED tag without permission, tarnishing its once-iconic reputation. These newcomers, in CODEX’s view, failed to match the quality and integrity of the original group.

Such imitation tactics echo broader trends in the piracy landscape, where brands like YTS, EZTV, and ExtraTorrent have been hijacked by unrelated parties seeking quick attention.

Having achieved its mission of dominance in the game cracking Scene, covering platforms from Steam to Origin and beyond, CODEX now sees no serious contenders. As it bids farewell, the group expresses gratitude to its supporters and companions, marking the end of an era in cracking history.

“Have a good time… Bye from CODEX!”
